UKCeB's mission is to
transform secure information sharing for through life collaboration in defence acquisition and support. It's a not-for-profit, membership organisation comprising over 700 individuals and 70
Defence & Aerospace companies, ICT Service Providers (see website for details) plus the
UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and related
Trade Associations (principally A|D|S & Intellect). With a mature Governance structure and senior MOD/Industry representatives setting the agenda, UKCeB's Task Force actively pursues coordinated activities across a range of groupings for
'Team Defence'. UKCEB is both a catalyst and a facilitator, promoting joint Industry/MOD collaboration for mutual benefit.
UKCeB accomplishes its mission through leadership of a focused set of collaborative activities with members, to deliver a set of strategic objectives:
- Lead consensus across the Defence Industry on key issues and the means of resolution
- Provide an independent focal point for the Defence Industry to interact with government, in particular the MOD
- Build upon relationships with the MOD to include other governments (primarily US)
- Lead the sharing of best practice throughout the Industry and governments
- Provide guidance and advice on methods and solutions for widespread publication
- Co-operate closely with Trade Associations to deliver benefit to their members
A set of active Working Groups, Steering Groups and Communities of Interest are enabled through the UKCeB Task Force. Also, UKCeB promotes activities in Projects and Learning & Development plus relevant Events. The latter includes the Defence IT Annual Conference, organised in conjunction with the Shephard Group (13/14 April 2011) and an annual Good Practice Marketplace with Awards (03 Februarey 2011).
UKCeB members can join these active communities and interact with peers who share similar professional interests and work on shared issues. There is a dialogue on two LinkedIn Groups: for UKCeB's Annaul Conference (join 'Shepards Defence IT' Group) and the UK Council for Electronic Business Group.
In addition, UKCeB provides consultancy services relating to Secure Information Sharing and Through-Life Support as part of the UK MOD FATS/3.
