On January 1, 2004, the Swiss Defense Procurement Agency of the Swiss Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sports (DDPS) changed its name to armasuisse as part of a reorganization. armasuisse remains an entity of the DDPS and continues to be responsible for research, development, testing, evaluation, acquisition and liquidation of defense equipment and services for the Swiss Armed Forces.
