The Defence Forces Materiel Command (DFMC) is a military unit subordinated to the Defence Staff. The command started operations in 1993 when 13 depots, the Electronics Repair Centre and the Test Firing Centre, which had been operating directly within the authority of the Defence Staff, were attached to the new headquarters established in Tampere. The DFMC is responsible for the whole technical life cycle of the Army materiel and, within its scope of activities, of the joint materiel. Its most significant task is maintenance and repair, their proportion being 35 %. Most of the financial resources are used for purchasing materiel.
