The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is the regulatory authority for civil aviation in New Zealand. We establish and maintain the rules that all pilots, engineers, aircraft operators, airlines and aerodromes follow to keep flying safe. We check these rules are being complied with and have the power to take action if we find that they are not. We monitor the aviation safety performance of each size of aircraft so that we can direct our safety efforts where they are needed most. We also produce several safety publications and run safety training courses and seminars.
