On 12 April 1930, 74 year ago, the first organisation of manufacturers and traders was established in Lithuania. The main objectives of the Union of Lithuanian Traders, Industrialists and Handicraftsmen were to 'improve the economic well-being of the nation by uniting all Lithuanian traders, industrialists and handicraftsmen, caring for their legal, economic and cultural affairs, improving their professional skills, and supporting Lithuanian trade, industry and crafts'.
