Saab has signed a HoA (Heads of Agreement) with the Brazilian aircraft integrated structure supplier Akaer regarding the Brazilian Industry participation in the Gripen NG development program.
The Heads of Agreement covers participation in the design, development and production of parts of the Gripen NG. Akaer will, among a number of other activities, participate in preliminary design, detail design, structural analysis, load and stress analysis and tooling design.
As an immediate result of the HoA, a team of 15-20 Brazilian engineers from Akaer will relocate to Sweden to work together with the Gripen NG Integrated development teams.
This program will provide a unique opportunity for Akaer to participate in the development of the latest generation fighter from initial design phases through to manufacturing.
The capabilities of Akaer will complement Saab's own capabilities and the resulting relationship will create tangible synergies that will be of benefit to both companies.
Lennart Sindahl Saab Executive Vice President and Business Group Chairman Aeronautics
says that - "This is the first proof of our strong commitment to a long lasting partnership between Swedish and Brazilian aerospace industries.".
"We see this as a tremendous opportunity for our company and will take the aerospace cluster in Brazil to new and higher level", says Akaer CEO Cesar Augusto da Silva.
